Turbo-Charge Your Google Adwords' Sales
If you want to boost your click through rates and slash your advertising costs moments from now, then pay close attention.
Google's Adwords is still the yard stick by which other search advertising platforms measure themselves. This isn't merely an industry observation, but a respectful sentiment that I share now, having learned the ins and outs of Adwords first hand.
The reason I'm writing this is because there are many beginners out there who throw away their hard earned dollars on Google Adwords. Since I don't want that to happen to you, here are some Google Adwords tips which can help you hold onto your hard earned cash:
1. Turn the content network off. You will often get untargeted traffic clicking away at your ads out of curiosity. You can make money with the content network, but most people lose money on it, so turn it off!!! A personal example was getting close to 4 million view per day by content match with 400 clicks costing $100 but there was no sales.
2. Use a keyword tool to help generate search phrases. There are some good keyword tools out there such as Adwords Generator and Keyword Density Analyzer Tool that will help you generate keyword phrases. Thiswill require a small investment, but what business opportunitydoes not? You can also use the free Overture Keyword Tool if you don't have the money to purchase the tools mentioned above.
3. Don't throw a bunch of unrelated keywords into one adgroup. For example, if you are selling flour to france, don't put "flour"and "weed" into the same adgroup - seperate these into their own distinct adgroups using common keywords. Deploy a negative keyword strategy - I cannot stress this enough. As an advertiser you have almost no control over where your ad goes, but you have the option to keep it from going where it won't work!
4. Target for success - Adwords now lets you target your advertising by nation, state and or municipality. You may also opt for a stated radius. These features, which are the first steps towards the onset of local search, significantly boost your click-through rates. Use your keyword in your ad, preferably in the headline. This will help lower your cost per click, since Google usally gives you a higher quality score when you do this.
5. Stick to a daily budget - Don't overspend per click. Divide the total price of your commission by 100 to get the maximum cost you should spend per click. For example, if your commission is $10, divide $10/100 to get a maximum 10 cents per click. This means that if 1 out of every 100 people who clicks on your ad makes a sale, you'd break even. If the keywords you want are more expensive than your maximum cost per click, try to think of related phrases that might trigger the same ad.
6. Scrutinize click quality - There is fear about click fraud in Adwords, legitimate fear. There are, for instance, unethical adversaries who will click your ad to cost you money. (Yet another reason to be nice to everyone you meet!) It is tough to prevent ethical lapses in other people, but if you feel your clicks are suspicious, contact Google immediatelyand stop running the ads.
